(Claire Ashley)
This Friday, November 4, Collaboraction will be hosting our next Mush Room exhibition, a monthly showing of visionary Chicago visual artists. The event is from 6-10pm in Collaboraction's Room 300, located on the 3rd floor in the Flat Iron Arts Building. Featured artists for this upcoming Mush Room installment include Sam Jaffe and Claire Ashley.
Sam Jaffe is a very talented Chicago artist who has a rather extensive portfolio. Her work includes: sculpture, installation, painting, and readymades. Jaffe has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the Chicagoland area. Furthermore, she has received both national and international praise for her artwork. For more information about Sam Jaffe or to view her upcoming exhibitions, visit her website.
Claire Ashley is an equally talented international artist. Originally from Scotland, Ashley uses both paper and other industrial materials to create her artistic vision. This is how Ashley describes her artwork: "My work inhabits the liminal space between painting, sculpture, and performance. I mine the language of abstraction, minimalism, and pop while transforming mundane industrial materials, such as tapes and tarps, into drawings, sculptures and performative props." To learn more about Claire Ashley, visit her website. She can also be found on Tumblr.
Now showing at the Flat Iron Arts Building, 1579 n. Milwaukee, Room 300.
