Q. When will I find out if my play was chosen?
Please do not inquire about the status of your submission. The finalists will be contacted individually and announced in the spring on our website
Q. Do you have a preference to comedy or tragedy?
No. All varieties of writing are given equal consideration as long as they're under 6 minutes duration.
Q. Will audience members be walking and talking during the performance of my play? There is no restriction on how the audience is permitted to behave while in the space. They are encouraged to take complete ownership of the event while they're there.
Q. Musical Guests? Do I need to account for their style and music in my play?
No. The musical guests are doing their own sketching, and only while plays are not performing. Their main purpose is to cleanse the audience's palette as they prepare for the next play.
Q. Will the director of my sketch be able to contact me with artistic questions, etc.?
Directors will be given their writers' email address and phone number. Collaboraction strongly encourages the writer-director relationship and welcome the writer into the process of staging their world premiere.
Q. Will I have any artistic input beyond the writing of the sketch?
Again, directors will be given their writers' email address and phone number. Collaboraction strongly encourages the writer-director relationship and the writer is welcome and encouraged to get involved. How much the writer and director collaborate is entirely up to the relationship they create.
Q. If my sketch is chosen will I be given any free tickets to attend the Sketchbook?
Writers will be given one complimentary ticket to be used only for themselves for each night of the festival. They will also be given one comp for a guest to accompany them on any night of the festival except for closing night.
Q. Can I submit a pre-cast sketch, or suggest actors to play roles in the sketch?
You can certainly suggest anything you'd like as long as your play doesn't exceed the 6 page restriction. But understand that ultimately it will be up the director and Company to decide what actors will participate in this year's festival.
Q. I have an old computer. My browser does not allow me to submit my play according to the guidelines above. What should I do?
Please email info@collaboraction.org to determine the best way to submit your play.
